NILMDTS Remembrance Photography Information

First, I am so deeply sorry you are walking through this. My name is Amanda, and I’m a volunteer photographer with Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep. My role is simply to create gentle, meaningful remembrance images for your family during this time. These sessions are offered completely free of charge through NILMDTS.

There is absolutely no pressure or expectations during our time together.

Every family, every experience, and every session looks different. My goal is simply to document your baby with care, tenderness, and respect.

There is no “right” way to do this.

Sessions are quiet, gentle, and led entirely by your comfort level. Some families would like:

  • individual photos of baby

  • parent and sibling images

  • close details (hands, feet, hair, blankets, etc.)

  • candid moments together

  • extended family included

  • faith or sentimental items incorporated

Others prefer only a small number of images. You are welcome to guide as much or as little as you’d like. I will gently help throughout the session if needed.

FAMILIES MUST Complete A Consent Form

Before the session, NILMDTS requires a consent form to be completed. Once completed, I’ll finalize the session registration through the NILMDTS system on my end.

Every Image is edited with great care & respect for your family and your baby’s story.

Timing & Availability

Because these sessions are time-sensitive, I do my best to remain flexible and available as quickly as possible.

If possible, I ask that families text me as soon as they have a rough idea of timing — for example, if an induction is scheduled for Monday morning or if there is an expected window of time. Even if details are uncertain, having a general idea helps me plan my availability and be prepared to come when needed.

Sessions themselves are typically quite gentle and unhurried, usually lasting approximately 30–60 minutes depending on circumstances and your comfort level.

Text is generally the best and fastest way to reach me throughout the process.

While I do not typically photograph sessions overnight, I can sometimes make arrangements for late evening sessions when needed, particularly if timing falls before midnight. Please don’t hesitate to reach out and communicate what is happening — I will always do my best to support your family where I can.

If plans or timing change unexpectedly, please do not worry. Simply update me whenever you are able.

Editing & DeliverY

After your session, your images are carefully hand-edited with sensitivity and intention.

In keeping with Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep policy, all final images are delivered in black and white. This helps keep a gentle focus on connection, emotion, and memory, while also softening medical elements that can sometimes feel overwhelming in colour. Many families find this style easier to revisit over time.

Gallery delivery is typically around 2–4 weeks, though I always try to prioritize these galleries whenever possible. You will receive a private online gallery with high-resolution digital images and downloadable files for personal printing and keeping.

If needed for memorial arrangements or services, I can also provide one or two lightly edited images on a rushed timeline prior to full gallery delivery.

As part of the editing process set by NILMDTS, we gently clean up temporary skin changes such as dryness, cracking, peeling, or small marks where appropriate, while still preserving your baby’s natural features and authenticity.
